Myriam Glémaud, Psy.D., Director of Behavioral Health and Clinical Integration at FoundCare

As September is National Suicide Prevention Month, we close out the month by sitting with our very own Dr. Glémaud, FoundCare’s Director of Behavioral Health and Clinical Integration, for a short Q&A session around what mental health support for someone struggling with thoughts of self-harm looks like, and where FoundCare comes in.

Dr. Glémaud, what is your message to anyone who may be struggling with thoughts of self-harm?

If you are struggling with thoughts of self-harm, know that you are not alone, and that there is a community of professionals who are here to help you get through difficult moments.

Dr. Glémaud, how can someone support a loved one struggling with thoughts of self-harm?

You can be supportive to a loved one struggling with thoughts of self-harm by:

Listening to their concerns

Validating them without being judgmental

Being present for them by including them in your day-to-day

Avoiding leaving them without social support

Dr. Glémaud, how does FoundCare help people who may need mental health support?

FoundCare provides behavioral health services, and can help clients gain access to individual therapy and psychiatric services if recommended.
